FAQ’s:
What makes this different from other Mexico City food tours?
The CDMX Local Taco Tour is small and intimate and our guides provide a generous helping of facts, historical information and personal anecdotes to go along with your delicious bites.
How long is the tour and what’s included?
The tour runs about three hours. Each guest enjoys 4 different regional bites, including quesadillas, tlacoyos, tacos, atole, coffee and a dessert.
Is this tour good for solo travelers?
Absolutely. Many of our guests come alone, in couples or in groups of friends and the vibe is inclusive, social and welcoming.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes — when you book, we ask you to let us know if you have dietary restrictions and we can accommodate you.
What will we do?
We’ll start the day in an organic and fair trade tortillería to watch tortillas being made from scratch. You’ll learn how maíz turns into a tortilla through an age-old technique of processing the corn called nixtamal. It’s here where you’ll take your first bite.
Then we get elemental! We explore the essential ingredients for Mexican cuisine at a local market. As we take in the smells and textures of the market, we’ll sample mole and learn about other essential ingredients used in Mexican cooking. From there, we continue on an eating / walking tour through the charming Condesa and Roma neighborhoods, tasting various authentic regional tacos from across Mexico — including the king of all tacos, the al pastor. We’ll hydrate with cold beers and agua fresca along the way.
Our tour wouldn’t be complete without something sweet, so we’ll head to a chocolate and pastry shop owned by one of Latin America's top pastry chefs. Here, we’ll sample delicious confections with a bit of Mexican coffee.
The tour is roughly three hours, from the tortillería to the chocolate shop (bring comfortable shoes and your appetite). Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions so we can better plan your experience.
